OUTBREAK UPDATE: The FDA, CDC, along with state and local officials are continuing their investigation of the multi-state outbreak of cyclosporiasis illnesses likely linked to Del Monte vegetable trays.As of June 19, 2018, CDC reports 237 people infected w/ Cyclospora from 4 states with 7 hospitalized, no deaths. Del Monte vegetable trays recalled from 6 states are the likely source of this outbreak.People with symptoms of Cyclospora – diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach cramps/pain, bloating, increased gas, nausea, and fatigue – should contact their healthcare provider for treatment.

PET FOOD RECALL: Hill’s Pet Nutrition has expanded its January recall of canned dog food to include 85 total lots of 44 varieties of Hill’s Science Diet & Hill’s Prescription Diet canned dog food due to very high levels of vitamin D. Owners should stop feeding all recalled products and contact their vet if their dog shows signs of vitamin D toxicity, which can lead to kidney failure or death.
