OUTBREAK ALERT: FDA investigates multiple salmonella infections linked to frozen shredded coconut. Do not eat, serve, or sell Coconut Tree Brand Shredded Coconut (frozen). This product is linked to illnesses (salmonellosis) in 9 states. To prevent cross contamination, wash and sanitize freezers, and any surfaces where you may have stored and placed the coconut. The germ can cause serious, sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and those with chronic health conditions.
