The FDA is alerting consumers of possible hepatitis A contamination of Bauer’s Candies Modjeskas. Do NOT eat, but throw away, any Bauer’s Candies Chocolate or Caramel Modjeskas, purchased after Nov 14, 2018 b/c worker in facility tested positive for hepatitis A. go.usa.gov/xPJ32
Products were sold at retail locations, QVC, & BauersCandy.com. FDA is working w/ Bauer’s Candies, KY, on a voluntary recall. Updated information will be shared as it is available. Currently, we aren’t aware of any cases of hepatitis A related to eating these candies.
Transmission risk from the candy is low, however, hepatitis A has a long incubation period & can have serious health effects. FDA recommends, if you ate Bauer’s Candies Chocolate or Caramel Modejeskas after Nov 14, 2018 consult w/your healthcare provider. go.usa.gov/xPJqD
