RECALL ALERT: Return—do not eat—Queso Fresco whole milk cheese, in clear 16-ounce package with expiration date September 19, 2017, and Queso Fresco x LB, in clear 5–6 pound package with expiration date June 17, 2017. Both cheeses were distributed to stores in Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina. Queso Fresco found contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a germ which can cause a serious, sometimes fatal illness. The FDA, CDC, along with state and local officials are investigating a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Adelaide infections. Affected states include: GA, IL, IN, KY, MI, MO, NC, and OH. CDC reports that fruit salad mixes that include pre-cut melons are a likely source of this outbreak.

WARNING: Do not eat Meijer Purple Cow orange cream bars stamped “best by November 30, 2018,” and sold in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin; and Tops orange cream bars stamped “best by December 18, 2018,” and sold in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. These ice cream bars could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a germ causing a serious, sometimes fatal illness in young children, frail or elderly people, and those with chronic health conditions (weakened immune systems). Although healthy individuals who become infected might suffer only short-term symptoms such as fever, headaches, and diarrhea, the germ can cause pregnant women to lose their babies.
